🎖️ Today we pause to honor those who bear the Purple Heart—a medal no one asks for, but one that represents the ultimate sacrifice short of giving one’s life.

THE REALITY BEHIND THE RIBBON

While others received their awards for acts of heroism or service milestones, Purple Heart recipients earned theirs through blood, pain, and sacrifice. Every Purple Heart tells a story of a moment when everything changed—when duty met danger, and our brothers and sisters paid the price.

MORE THAN A MEDAL

That purple ribbon with George Washington’s profile isn’t just decoration. It’s a reminder that freedom isn’t free, and some of our finest paid the down payment with their own blood. Whether it was an IED in Afghanistan, incoming fire in Iraq, or any of the countless ways our warriors have been wounded in service to this nation—each Purple Heart represents a life forever altered.

THE CONTINUING BATTLE

Here’s what civilians don’t always understand: for many Purple Heart recipients, the real battle began AFTER they came home. Physical wounds heal, but the invisible scars—PTSD, TBI, chronic pain—those battles continue every single day.And here’s where it gets personal for me: too many of these heroes are fighting another war—the war with the VA to get the benefits they’ve earned. If you’re a Purple Heart recipient struggling with your VA claim, know this: 

You’ve already proven your sacrifice. Now let’s prove your claim.
